STUDENT SUCCESS & ME.
I chose student success because it was a very relatable and interesting topic for me. As a transfer into UTSA in the beginning of my sophomore year, finding student resources and things to do was very crucial for me. The great thing about student success is there is so many different things to explore within that realm. Thankfully, I was able to find great things and resources here at UTSA, but I have always wanted to improve my study and time management skills, in order to become the best student I can possibly be.
As I mentioned before, there is plenty of things that lead into student success, and one of those things is taking breaks and having fun with others. In the next pictures, you can see that it is important to take time away from school, and have fun with others. One good way to do this is find friends to hangout with and also exploring different school clubs/organizations that host events!
While this is not the best picture to make an example for sleep, I thought it would be funny. Sleep is very important in regards to student success, so make sure that you are getting a minimum of eight hours of sleep in order to stay productive and focused during your days in school!
Go explore the campus! There is TONS of things to do on campus. I spent my first day at UTSA walking the campus finding my route to all my classes for the days, and learning where different shops, resturants and such are. using
This is a picture of me and my girlfriend studying on our personal time outside of school and campus, making sure we stay on top of all our academic assignments!
This is pictured at the UTSA John Peace Library, I spend a lot of time here with friends, and also alone to get my school work done, the great thing about the John Peace Library is you can find different areas for different things whether that be group studying, book reading, or computer assignments.
Hangout with friends! Spending time away from school and not consistenly involving yourself around school is totally ok, and you should do it! Here I am at the Texas Tech football game with my friends!
This was from the Texas Tech vs UTSA football game, going to sporting events can be really good because you can meet new people and have a great time supporting your school!
This picture is a group picture from my volunteer work with the San Antonio Food Bank. In this volunteer activity I learned how important it is to give back to the community and help others in need. When a community comes together as one, it creates a strong bond and love within the community of San Antonio.
RESEARCH RESULTS
My research for my student portfolio in relation to student success was mostly spent on time management and transitioning into college and making those two fit together. What my research suggested from various articles and scientically proven methods, is that when transitioning into college, one of the most important aspects for success is finding out how to manage your time within your schedule. You can do this by planning out your days and allowing yourself time to relax and break within your schedule which will allow for greater productivity in your most important tasks.
